To coordinate with their new identity, Abbott hired Crowerks to develop their portfolio site to echo the brand. This very lightweight framework is designed to house photos of their selected work and be a portal for initial communication to hospitality developers in the Pacific Northwest.
Without the need to develop a full Content Management System for Abbott, Crowerks developed a custom CMS tool that offers the ability to update the site simply by folder upload. Additionally, several of the projects that appear in the portfolio utilize Crowerks photography (The Ocean Lodge, Cousins’ Restaurant, Lodges at Cannon Beach, Inn at Cannon Beach and Stephanie Inn).
Extending the new brand identity through to printed promotional products via business cards, letterheads and CV documents was our next task. Selecting typography that can be used both online and in print via Google Web Fonts was a great solution to maintaining brand consistency. Color selection is paramount in any of our work but carries a heightened priority while working with other designers and architects.
Discovering the perfect color on this project did not manifest until the day the client sent us a photo of a pint of beer and this message: “The photo doesn’t catch it too well but I like the color of Manny’s Pale Ale in outdoor light. Hope this helps. At least you can enjoy the beer :-)”
