death cab + franz
so yes, we (b, c, n juju) did get to go last night and see the duo in (sadly) the memorial coliseum. *i have to say that is the worst lighting in a building that I have seen in SUCH a long time.* cribs was so-so but well worth waiting in line for a shirt for b. so franz was on first which was nice because they kinda amped everybody. very minimal set design, a small runway to surround the band and elevate drummer. almost a full set and sure to quit by 9, franz left me with fire. i actually wish they hadnt done that song especially last. they played a song prior to fire that was just great! three drummers and a long instrumental section was a breath of new life which was nice to hear. then they played fire which yeah…..moving right along.
franz seems like twinkies or crispy creams. you like them, you wouldnt ordinarily, but you do. you dont want to admit it but you catch yourself humming a song or two in the shower. seems like the trend will repeat in that you get so much of em that you have to get the hell away from em for a long time to purge.
Death Cab. Great set, great energy, great show. Ben is just such a great writer, chris an amazing musician jumping from piano to bass to lead. Nick and Jason just an amazing beat-keeping pair! I keep saying they’re rockers but nobody believes me. okay so they’re not ac/dc but that’s not exactly what I meant. last night they showed that they were indeed rockers, yet, are talented enough to pull it down and deliver smoothness and finess! explosive chorus, calm ending, and sappy story! greatness. they’re bound to be around for a long time and we’ll all change w/ em.
great show. fun times!! cheers -c
