kid606 & mouse on mars
so last night was fun and my ears are sitll ringin from it! working away yesterday at the studio i thought that instead of weathering the squal that we’d find something at least halfway decent to do in p-town. first stop the doug fir. much to my excreetment kid606 would be playing w/ mouse on mars. i proceeded w/ the jig of approval shut down work and skidded out of town. i was just remembering that when we all started sniffing around for mp3 and using rudamentary methods (thanks chris), kid606 was always at the top of my list! needless to say kid’s 45 min set of mashups, bass rips, and high energy bpms was insane. one of the best parts of a venue like the doug fir is that when a set’s done you dont have to deal w/ the silly “give me an encore” while the artist guzzles a beer in the back. he’ll come out in the crowd, guzzle a beer and then step into the shirt booth and sell you one. great set miguel!
mouse on mars….i expected different things. i did love how much more hardcore they are live with their feedback and dirty loops but they were just a little out of sync it seemed. you know how at a live performance you can just sense that re-enter of tempo and when you feel it you move with it and you think you’re oh so very clever…it was like that never happened…maybe that was what they intended and wanted to trick themselves a little bit too. it worked. m-on-m played a decent set as well but the blue ribbon goes to 606. fun late nite. cheers
