Website footer design

Another great change recently in crowerks web design practice; footer design. 2 years ago footers contained a slew of links, contact info and few other useful attributes. A year ago the trend was to minimize the overall appearance and content down to the nuts and bolts contact info and a copyright (as if those really carry weight). Today footers are becoming a mini-page of sorts and its a beautiful thing! As an include (dynamically placed on all pages…thus editing one file only) these mini pages serve a dual purpose. Not only do they provide extra navigation (occasionally redundant) they serve the mobile web market and those with tech-a.d.d. quite well.

There are a ton of great footers out there now; I reference http://www.skihood.com often. Social media links, partner links, further knowledge and research links, its a roadmap to the most common used items and those that may be too hidden otherwise.

Long live the footer!
