well mrsa is what it is so far believed to be. meaning methicillin- resistant staphylococcus aureus. basically a super bug that once treated with penicillin has figured out how to morph or adapt and is now immune to penicillin. actually a rather amazing little “super bug.” we went to seaside twice… where cory was tortured. they said to wait ’til today monday and come back for a check up. we promptly left seaside hospital and went straight to ohsu thanks to mike clark having lunch with the president and my parents for making things happen. upon arrival at oshu we were taken into the back room of er, then shot over to er observation for two nights and three days where cory spent his time on oxycodone and morphine. long story short ohsu says if we’d of listened to seaside’s brilliant advice, cory would have been dead by now, for the infection would have quickly ran up his leg to his heart. scary scary! i feel very blessed and happy to still have my sweet cory around. thank you for your prayers, good thoughts and happy wishes. please keep them coming we’re still working through this one.

well while most of our friends and family are stuck in oregon/washington dealing w/ inclement weather of “Dangerous-To-Live in Northwest” we’re held up in our little house in kauai again. kinda the same story as last year…..the year before…..and the year before that…..er…..sun, surf, water. nice to get away for a little bit. we stayed on oahu’s north shore for 3 days prior to our arrival in kauai. the largest of winter storms socked the “Country” and of the 3 days, i saw 4 people surf in a place that usual counts are more like 400. Looks surfable now though….perhaps we’ll go back one day. Honolulu is nuts. Kinda like a mini-Times Square mixed w/ Chinatown P-Town. Oh and drunk frat-dudes looking really hot while retching his beverages up on Waikiki Beach at 7pm. Anyway…much better images form here. christmas came early for me! thanks brook for being the best wifey on the planet and bringing it home!! just got a handmade Hess from Mark at Cannon Beach Surf. Danny Hess crafts these things like airplane wings and incorporates recyclable and sustainable materials! Two sessions in the water and Im looking forward to more! cheers -c

The 2007 Cannon Beach Arts Association Artist Grant has been awarded to Cory Burnett.

Every year the Cannon Beach Arts Association in cooperation with the city of Cannon Beach awards a grant to a local artist, writer or musician. This long standing program is one of the ways that the CBAA seeks to foster a vibrant arts community by supporting emerging and professional artists.

This year’s recipient is Cory Burnett, a full time Cannon Beach resident who owns and operates Crowerks, a graphic design and web development company.

Burnett will be producing a multi-media exhibit entitled (L) EDGE which will be featured at the Cannon Beach Gallery in May, 2008 during the Spring Unveiling.

Since 1986, The Cannon Beach Arts Association (CBAA) has provided programs and opportunities that enhance and support the arts in Cannon Beach and the surrounding communities. The CBAA is a non-profit multidisciplinary arts organization run almost entirely by volunteers, allowing over 97 percent of its budget to go directly to a wide variety of programs. These programs include: a Children’s Summer Art Camp, free Summer Concerts in the Park, Arts in Education funding for our schools, an Individual Artist Grant and the Cannon Beach Gallery. The Cannon Beach Arts Association programs are all funded through member’s contributions, and grants from business, foundations, and government agencies.

well we just got back from a week at lake chelan in northern central wa. our crazy water dog “stinky” discovered that he could not only snorkel when touching the ground but also when he is in 15 ft. of water. very funny!

well we spent last evening at cannon beach surf celebrating the arrival of gary and wendy linden from southern ca, as well as the patterson clan from ireland. i must admit i was a wee bit concerned about meeting mark patterson because i’ve altered his appearance many a time via photoshop to promote the good humor of cb surf…. however he was happy to meet me & encourage me to keep it up and his wife has more pix for me to “alter.” it was a great evening! gary linden also introduced us to an incredible tequila, ley .925… if you can find it, try it.

& news for today, cory, patterson, mekenas and gary linden went surfing at indian. i must say that someone as well known as linden (surf board shaper for those who don’t) he is so mellow and down to earth. he was an incredible fellow. linden is the fellow centered between mekenas on left (cannon beach surf owner) & mr. cory.

cory and i spent the rest of the day enjoy the sunshine, beach & a couple cold coronas.
